The World Philanthropy Forum was co-sponsored by Tsinghua University and the Chinese People’s Association for Friendship with Foreign Countries. In 2018, the University of Hong Kong and the Chinese University of Hong Kong were invited to sign a memorandum to co-host the forum. The forum is held every year on the United Nations International Charity Day and China Charity Day.
The forum is dedicated to the practical promotion, academic exchanges, talent training, policy advocacy and experience sharing of philanthropy around the world; it aims to promote philanthropy and the development of human civilization, enhance people-to-people bonds and moral accumulation, and contribute to the globalization of philanthropy and social work. Cooperation, promote world peace and stable development, and contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
The forum has been held five times so far, and the forum has been selected into the exhibition of achievements of the 40th anniversary of the country’s reform and opening up and the dialogue of Asian civilizations, and has become a banner of global public welfare and charity. The forum has successively issued the “World Philanthropy Declaration” and “World Philanthropy Forum Friendship Declaration”, advocating and practicing the cultivation of leading talents in the field of social services; establishing the “Chinese Social Work Collaboration and Cooperation Mechanism”; Initiative”, established “Building a Community of Shared Future for Human Beings: Collaborative Network of Philanthropy and Social Services”, established an academic committee and initiated research on the World Philanthropy and Philanthropy Index, and signed a memorandum of cooperation on “Promoting World Philanthropy Forum Communication and Index Research”.
